Driving Local Capacity: MAC Partners at the 2026 Local Content Summit

MAC Partners Group joined the maiden Local Content Summit hosted by the Minerals Commission at the Planter’s Lodge in Takoradi. The landmark gathering convened key decision-makers from government, industry, and academia to chart a bold path for Ghana’s mining future under the theme: “Strengthening Local Content and Indigenization — Building a Resilient Mining Sector in Ghana.”

The summit served as a powerful platform for dialogue, collaboration, and actionable strategies aimed at deepening local participation, empowering Ghanaian businesses, and developing a highly skilled national workforce. As the sector evolves, such engagements reaffirm a shared commitment to sustainable growth, value retention, and long-term resilience for the mining industry in Ghana.

The summit was officially opened by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, Guest of Honour, delivered the keynote address, calling for strong support for the national “reset” agenda and greater empowerment of local companies to take leading roles in Ghana’s economy, particularly in the mining sector. He commended the Minerals Commission Board, led by William Ntow Boahene, for organizing a transformative summit aimed at advancing indigenous business growth.

Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensuring Ghana’s mineral wealth benefits its citizens. He highlighted the mining sector’s major economic role but noted low local participation in high-value services, stressing the need for strategic partnerships, technology transfer, and capacity building to strengthen Ghanaian enterprises and drive sustainable national development.

During a high-level panel session, our CEO, Dr. Seth Quaye, spotlighted a critical driver of this transformation: workforce development. He emphasized the importance of demand-driven training, industry-aligned curricula, and strong partnerships with educational institutions to build a future-ready Ghanaian talent pipeline capable of competing at the highest levels.

The reforms announced at the summit, including strengthened local content rules, legislative reviews, digital transformation at the Commission, and stricter enforcement against “fronting”, signal a new era for Ghana’s mining industry. One focused on transparency, equity, and long-term national prosperity.

We were proud to engage stakeholders at the MAC Partners Group booth and to contribute to conversations shaping the future of Ghana’s mining ecosystem.

The momentum is clear. The commitment is strong. And we look forward to building lasting partnerships that drive skills development, innovation, and sustainable growth for Ghana.
