EMPOWERING WORKFORCE: JUMBO OPERATOR TRAINING

In a significant step towards building and empowering its community, AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi Mine, in collaboration with Mac Partners Training Institute, embarked on a comprehensive Jumbo Operator training program in South Africa for seven (7) youth apprentices from the Obuasi community.

A twelve-week program aimed to enhance the skills of trainees in underground mining activities, a critical aspect of the mine’s operations.

Selection Process

The journey began with a rigorous selection process, comprising

Training Overview

The Murray and Robert Training Academy (MRTA), in collaboration with Mac Partners Training Institute, designed a structured training schedule focusing on:

  • Basic Fire Fighting (BBF)
  • Sandvik DD321 Drill Rig
  • Drill Rig Operator
  • Working at Heights
  • MRTA Inductions
  • TM3 Operations – Underground Hardrock Skills
  • TMM Appreciation
  • TMM Basic Engineering

To ensure effective knowledge transfer, the training academy employed a multi-stage approach

Electronic Learning – Virtual Reality Training – 3D Simulator Training – Practical Training
